Amy Brown’s practice concentrates on civil litigation and creditors’ rights in Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases and other commercial bankruptcy-related litigation. She has represented banks, landlords, mortgage holders, equipment lessors, management companies, former officers, home owner associations, employees and personal injury plaintiffs in matters pending before the United States Bankruptcy Court.
Amy has vast experience in representing plaintiffs and defendants in “preference” litigation and other adversary proceedings in U.S. Bankruptcy Court. She also has represented commercial and consumer debtors and creditors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 proceedings.
She also is experienced commercial litigation and general business litigation. She has represented businesses, credit unions, banks, insurance companies, fiduciaries and individuals in breach of contract actions, landlord/tenant disputes, employment disputes and debt collection matters in all levels of courts in Delaware, including the Delaware Court of Chancery.
Amy also practices in the area of probate and estate administration, and routinely drafts wills, powers of attorney and advance health-care directives. She is also experienced in handling matters before the Family Court of the State of Delaware.
Before joining Gellert Scali Busenkell & Brown, Amy practiced at a mid-sized regional law firm focusing on corporate bankruptcy and commercial litigation, and prior to that, for a boutique Delaware law firm that focused on corporate bankruptcy, business litigation, real estate, and director and officer liability. Before attending law school, Amy worked as a social worker and case manager for a Delaware nonprofit organization.
